Commemorating 20 years of democracy in South Africa, the dramatic ‘SunStar’ sculpture, situated as a temporary installation on the historic Signal Hill in Cape Town, watched over both the City and Robben Island, as a reminder of South Africa’s greatest story, and a shining symbol of hope for the country’s future. Honoring the life and struggle of global icon and former South African President, Nelson Mandela, the design of the 8-pointed star installation utilised much of the original fence that once surrounded W Island.
