A recent addition to Cape Town’s historic Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the ‘Water Shed’ has quickly become a popular building in the city. The original brief, which called for a business school and incubator to be set up in an existing harbour shed, was redefined to view the project as an urban connector as well. Breaking the mould of ordinary market spaces the building was envisaged as a public street. Designed as an urban route connecting across its site, the building exists as a generous public space in the area.
