Originally built as the Port Captain’s Office in 1882, the Clock Tower is now an important landmark in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. Its red walls seen today are painted the same colour as they were in the 1800’s, having been carefully matched to scrapings of the original paint. All of the walls on the second floor are covered in mirrors, originally affording the Port Captain a 360° view of the harbour and its happenings. Today, the Clock Tower stands strong as a historical monument in a modern day harbour that is constantly changing.
